Flamenco de Hoy
The group, formed by Pedro Cortes Jr.(Guitarist/Composer) uses Flamenco as a base to combine elements of Jazz, and contemporary music to create original compositions. Flamenco de Hoy's goal is to introduce Flamenco as a new living art form while drawing from its roots. Flamenco is evolving from a strictly Spanish art form, absorbing influences of other musical traditions and becoming international, just as American Blues and Jazz have in the past. Cortes'charismatic flair as a Spanish Gypsy guitarist combined with his brilliant instrumental writing for violin, flute, bass, and piano produces a singularly captivating and riveting musical sound. All these elements come together in a celebration of the great freedom and intense control that characterizes Flamenco.
